Motorsports Obituary - Chris Economaki Dies At 91

Auto Central, Sep. 28, 2012: Chris Economaki, the iconic voice of motorsports has passed at 91. Economaki began his career with National Speed Sport News (NSSN) at the age of 14, ultimately becoming NSSN's Editor in 1950. Subsequently, he began working in TV and pre-dated the emergence of professional motorsports as an electronic media attraction.

A statement from IndyCar this morning said it all; "INDYCAR and the world of motorsports have lost a true friend with the passing of Chris Economaki. The Dean of American motorsports journalists, Chris dedicated most of his life to reporting the sport of auto racing and telling the stories of the heroes of our sport. He was truly one of a kind. We send our thoughts and condolences to his family, friends and colleagues."
