SYDNEY - Sept 21, 2012: Ford Australia has confirmed the all-new EcoSport SUV will be previewed at next month’s Australian International Motor Show in Sydney.

The stylish SUV is one of several significant vehicles that will be part of the Ford lineup at AIMS.

“The EcoSport is an exciting vehicle for us and AIMS is a great opportunity to showcase this great looking newcomer,” says Ford Australia President and CEO, Bob Graziano.

“EcoSport will also showcase some innovative smart technologies, as well as the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine. As the EcoSport is based on the same platform as Fiesta, our customers can expect excellent ride and handling characteristics.”

The Ford EcoSport delivers a bold stance, a high driving position and robust character on top of the agility, maneuverability and fuel efficiency in a compact on-road footprint, making it the ideal urban runabout.

“If you look closely too, you’ll see the One Ford signature design cues that EcoSport shares with our very own Ford Territory,” Graziano said.

The 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine in the EcoSport has been hailed as one of the world’s best engines, winning the 2012 “International Engine of the Year”. The small, high-tech 3-cylinder engine also hauled in two other awards – “Best New Engine” and “Best Engine Under 1.0-litre.”

When the EcoSport arrives next year it will join the growing Ford Australia EcoBoost engine family, which currently includes the Mondeo and Falcon, as well as the Focus ST, which arrives in showrooms next month.

Joining the EcoSport in Sydney will be the Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo, Falcon and Ford Kuga and Territory SUVs – right through to the popular Ranger XL, XLT and Wildtrak.

FPV fans have not been forgotten either. The FPV GT RSPEC sedan and Pursuit Ute, as well as Ford’s V8 Supercar “Car of the Future” will provide some performance excitement for show fans. The COTF will feature EcoBoost livery.

“It’s the first time the FPV GT RSPEC sedan and Pursuit Ute have been shown together at a significant motor show,” Graziano said.

“We expect a lot of interest from our FPV fans as well as potential customers. Our loyal V8 Supercar fans have also been eagerly awaiting the chance to see the Car of the Future in the flesh.”

Visually, the new FPV GT RSPEC is distinctive, its look inspired by the legendary 1969 Boss Mustang with a unique stripe package and paint treatment.

Under the bonnet, the new GT RSPEC continues with FPV’s much vaunted all-aluminum ‘Miami’ BOSS 335 5.0-litre supercharged engine.
