Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited’s (MMAL) i-MiEV is the best green vehicle according to Green Lifestyle magazine who recently named the all-electric vehicle as their top New Car for 2012.

SYDNEY – Sept 18, 2012: In the inaugural Green Lifestyle Awards, the i-MiEV was crowned winner in the New Car category thanks to its style, features and functionality.

Green Lifestyle magazine editor, Emma Bowen praised the all-electric i-MiEV’s innovative design and green credentials.

“After years of research, innovation and experimentation, Mitsubishi has successfully created a 100 percent electric vehicle that dramatically reduces its environmental impact without any compromises,” Bowen said.

Judging in the New Car category was based on a range of criteria including style, substance, impact and functionality, with i-MiEV claiming the title ahead of Nissan Leaf and Toyota Prius.

MMAL CEO Mutsuhiro Oshikiri said the Green Lifestyle Award highlights the potential of all-electric vehicles to change the Australian motoring landscape.

“Mitsubishi Motors believes the future of electric vehicles is bright and we will continue to work towards offering a range of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to suit all lifestyles,” Oshikiri said.

The i-MiEV, which stands for Mitsubishi Innovative Electric Vehicle, was the first volume produced electric vehicle to be available for sale on the Australian market.
