BEAULIEU, UNITED KINGDOM – Aug 8, 2012: Warm sunshine greeted the first Simply Japanese, held in the grounds of the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, on Sunday, 5th August. Following a successful Simply Mazda day in 2011 the event was expanded this year to include all Japanese marques, with owners of Japanese vehicles invited to bring them into the Beaulieu attraction for the day. The display in the Beaulieu Arena and parkland spanned a wide range of marques and models, including Toyota, Subaru, Honda, Lexus and Mitsubishi.

In addition to individuals bringing their vehicles to Beaulieu for the day, members of the Mazda MX-5, RX-8 and Nissan Owners’ Clubs joined the event in force, displaying their cars in the picturesque parkland.

A selection of the best vehicles was chosen to take part in a cavalcade around the parkland, showing off some of the finest examples of the marques. The winner of the People’s Choice Award was Peter Sargent from Andover in his Subaru Impreza. Peter has owned the car for nine years and spent the last eight years bringing it up to its current immaculate condition. Peter keeps the car for special occasions and it only gets an airing about six times a year.

Runner up was a Toyota Celica GT, owned by Sarah and Paul Radford of Bartley, Hampshire. Self confessed MK1 fanatics, they purchased the car, their pride and joy, a year ago.

The provisional date for Simply Japanese, 2013 is the 4th August.
