CALABASAS, CA--July 12, 2012: DTS, Inc. , a leader in high-definition audio, today announced a collaboration with Mitsubishi Motors to integrate the DTS Neural Surround technology into the upgraded audio system of the new 2012 Delica D:5 minivan, which will launch in Japan in July 2012. Other Mitsubishi models with DTS Neural Surround technology will be launched in the United States and Europe later this year. This implementation will allow stereo content from MP3 players, smartphones and CDs to be upmixed in 5.1 surround sound and played back via the 2012 Delica D:5 speaker system.

“Consumers are savvy and demand 24/7 connectivity without compromising quality--at home and on-the-go”

Mitsubishi is the first Japanese automobile manufacturer to feature this new technology, which will enable consumers to plug in their favorite connected devices and enjoy entertainment content in full surround sound while driving. "We believe the DTS Neural Surround is the most suitable surround sound system for our cars," commented Tohru Hara, General Manager, electronics engineering department of Mitsubishi Motors.

With the DTS Neural Surround technology, Mitsubishi 2012 Delica D:5 owners can enjoy high-quality surround sound entertainment in their car via smartphones, MP3 players and popular connected devices. This functionality is increasingly important to today's consumers, as tablets become commonplace and smartphones are used for much more than traditional communication. The growing prevalence of using portable consumer electronics for hosting personal music libraries and movies has prompted innovative car manufacturers, like Mitsubishi, to enhance their vehicles by allowing consumer devices to interact with vehicle entertainment systems and speakers. DTS enhances the integration of consumer electronics into any vehicle by enabling seamless conversion between stereo and surround sound audio for the ultimate in-auto sound experience.

"Consumers are savvy and demand 24/7 connectivity without compromising quality--at home and on-the-go," said Keith Burnett, DTS vice president of Home AV and Automotive. "Now the media libraries they have invested time and money into can be enjoyed in full surround sound, while commuting to work, sitting in traffic or on a road trip."

Mitsubishi Motors is working to integrate DTS Neural Surround technology in additional vehicles that will be available internationally.
