Star Transportation Group trains fellow vets to become taxi owners / operators using VPG's MV-1; DeLucia joins VPG at Veteran Small Business Conference

PITTSBURGH--June 8, 2012: The Vehicle Production Group today announced a formal partnership with the Star Transportation Group of the greater Pittsburgh area and its president, Robert DeLucia, a veteran who founded STG nearly 30 years ago. The Veterans Taxi Service, a part of STG, provides transportation services using wheelchair-accessible, compressed natural gas-powered MV-1 automobiles built by VPG; Mr. DeLucia helps train and employ veterans to become drivers and independent business owners through that service. Later this month, Mr. DeLucia and VPG will be exhibitors at a national veterans' business conference in Detroit.

"We're proud that the MV-1 is part of this unique program that helps bring our nation's servicemen and servicewomen into the workforce, allowing those who proudly served their country to continue service to their communities -- and, in this case, to their fellow veterans," said Mike Carney, Chief Marketing Officer for the Vehicle Production Group. "Bob is doing something truly special in Pittsburgh, and we're bringing him to Detroit in hopes that others will follow his example."

"I started the Veterans Taxi Service to fill a pressing need, not just to provide transportation alternatives to the men and women who made countless sacrifices in service to our nation, but also to give our returning veterans a better chance at making a good, honest living for themselves," said Robert DeLucia. "I'm grateful to VPG for the American-made MV-1 and for producing a true wheelchair-accessible car that uses clean, U.S.-produced natural gas, and I'm proud to feature the MV-1 as part of our fleet."

The Vehicle Production Group and Mr. DeLucia will join forces at the National Veteran Small Business Conference in Detroit, being held from June 26-29. VPG will have an MV-1 on display at its exhibitor booth and Mr. DeLucia will talk about his success in deploying MV-1s as part of the Veterans Taxi Service program.
