Hyundai donates $25,000 in its second year as the presenting sponsor for the "Walk Like MADD" event in Orange County, Calif.

COSTA MESA, CA--May 17, 2012: Hyundai Motor America presented a $25,000 check to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) on Saturday, May 12, 2012 during the opening ceremony of its annual "Walk Like MADD" 5K walk in Huntington Beach, Calif. The walk raised awareness for MADD's mission to stop drinking and driving, support victims and prevent underage drinking. In its ongoing commitment to driver safety, Hyundai was the presenting sponsor of the event for the second consecutive year.

Walk Like MADD, MADD's signature walk, is a fun, community-driven 5K walk that raises funds and saves lives. This year's event drew more than 1,200 participants and included a Hyundai Veloster display, a 1,000 cranes origami project to bring hope to the victims and survivors of drunk driving crashes, a live performance by Redneck Rodeo, and law enforcement support from the California Highway Patrol and the police departments of Santa Ana, Orange, Huntington Beach and Irvine.

"We are honored to have Hyundai Motor America stand beside us as we work to make our roadways and communities safe throughout Orange County," said Mary Beth Griffin, affiliate executive director of MADD Orange County. "The funds raised through Walk Like MADD will go to support our mission and we are very grateful to Hyundai for their support in making the event a success."

Hyundai has partnered with MADD since 2005 when it sponsored a program that educated high school students on the dangers of drinking and driving. Hyundai has since expanded that partnership and is now the presenting partner for "Walk Like MADD." The walking event in Orange County is one of MADD's largest 5K walks.

"Drunk driving is a serious issue and Hyundai is committed to raising awareness about driver safety to help make our communities safer," said Zafar Brooks, director of corporate social responsibility, Hyundai Motor America. "Hyundai strives to be a positive corporate citizen and I am honored to continue our relationship with Mothers Against Drunk Driving in support of their important mission."

Hyundai's participation at the "Walk Like MADD" walk event is part of its larger corporate social responsibility program that runs under the mantra of "doing good things together." Hyundai is committed to being a responsible member of the community and giving back to its neighbors while focusing on youth health and education nationwide.
