Millington, May 4, 2012: It is the single most recognizable name in all of motorsports and it is coming to Memphis International Raceway on May 12 to put on a family friendly show like never before. Grave Digger, Monster Jam’s most recognizable star, will headline one of the most value-packed shows in the MidSouth history as the Thunder Jam roars into Memphis International Raceway May 12 for one night of over-the-top motorsports action.

“We have raced jets, we have raced wheelstanders, we have raced some of the fastest cars on the planet, but on May 12 we are going to see a new star take the stage,” said James Marchyshyn, Thunder Jam Operations Manager. “When Grave Digger rolls onto the track with tires as tall as the tower, it is going to be a sight unlike anything we have seen at Thunder Jam before."

Grave Digger will highlight an incredible night that will also feature the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle monster truck, side-by-side jet trains, the “Chevy Rebellion” wheelstanding truck and a race between Grave Digger and one of the fastest Jet Cars in racing today, Heat Wave.

Be part of the show in the Thunder Jam Bracket Racing. The class winners of this FREE entry bracket racing event will not only compete for Pro and Super Pro Purses, but also face off to be crowned “King of the Track.” Gates open at 1:00 PM. Time Trials begin at 2:00 PM. Thunder Jam promises an incredible evening of racing action for the whole family at the incredibly low price of just $20 for adults and $10 for children.

“After we hosted such a successful opening in 2012 with the return of the Super Chevy Show here at Memphis International Raceway in April, I’ve really been looking forward to this Thunder Jam event,” said Pam Kendrick, vice president of Memphis International Raceway. “As the planning for the show gets closer, I only got more excited for our fans and racers. The lineup of action on May 12 can’t be topped and it’s all for a great price. Watching Grave Digger go down the drag strip at MIR will be a sight to see.”

Headlining the Thunder Jam will be the biggest name in motorsports today, the legendary Grave Digger monster truck.

By far the biggest star in the highly popular Monster Jam series and perhaps one of the most recognizable names in all of racing, Grave Digger has racked up numerous awards and has achieved near rock star status.

The 1950 style Chevrolet truck has become an icon of the sport with its ghoulish green and black paint job and menacing red headlights and has made a name for itself with its go-or-go-home style of racing. Weighing in at nearly 12,000 pounds and powered by a 575 cubic inch Chevy Big Block engine, Grave Digger has garnered four Monster Jam Points Championships, one Freestyle Championship and two Monster Jam World Racing Championships while under the direction of a handful of drivers.

At Memphis International Raceway Grave Digger will be in the care of former Monster Jam World Champion Randy Brown as he goes head-to-head against Joey Parnell in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and more. And on May 12 Grave Digger will take on a brand new challenge – drag racing at Memphis International Raceway.

In addition to Grave Digger, the Thunder Jam at Memphis will also feature the battle of the jets as the 300 mile-per-hour “Heat Wave” and the “Spirit of Alabama” light up the night sky and stir the senses with an incredible display of fire, sound and speed.

Fans will also witness the “Chevy Rebellion” wheelstanding truck as driver Richard Hutchins tries to keep the headlights of his heavily modified Chevy truck pointing north the length of the track.

Fans will be treated to a run between our Super Pro and Pro winners of the night to be named the Thunder Jam “King of the Track”. This is a great event for the racers as well as the fans to witness first hand during this Inaugural event.

It is a show you simply can’t miss and it all takes place May 12 at Memphis International Raceway.

Along with all the on-track action fans will also be invited to participate in the AMSOIL Pit Party at 5:30 p.m. Fans will be able to interact with the stars of Thunder Jam, get an autograph from Randy Brown and enjoy a fun family atmosphere before witnessing the event later that night.

Tickets for the May 12 event are just $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Don’t miss out on the mid-south’s biggest Thunder Jam of the year May 12 at Memphis International Raceway.
