STOCKHOLM & CALGARY, Alberta--April 30, 3012: Tobii Technology, the world leader in eye tracking and gaze interaction, and Six Safety Systems, the leader in operator fit for duty solutions, today announced plans to develop a new eye-tracking based solution that will help companies in mining, oil and gas significantly improve worker safety and avoid costly losses related to transportation. The solution will be revealed at the Petroleum Safety Conference, in Banff, Alberta, April 30 -- May 4.

“This is the first monitoring system of its kind to provide objective analysis of how the operator is managing the vehicle and the actual status of the operator's well-being.”

"We are excited to be partnering with Tobii, to bring to market the most advanced and accurate operator-safety system that will mitigate the risk from distracted or drowsy drivers and reduce deadly and costly mining vehicle accidents on site," said Rich Robillard, president of Six Safety Systems. "This is the first monitoring system of its kind to provide objective analysis of how the operator is managing the vehicle and the actual status of the operator's well-being."

The safety system called LUCI is a comprehensive "operator fit for duty" solution that will integrate Tobii's robust eye tracking to monitor driver drowsiness and distraction for mining and oil and gas operations in the field. As a complete turnkey risk management solution, LUCI is also able to proactively contribute to the Six Safety Systems' analytical database with operator performance profiles that will be used for forecasting and greater risk management insight.

"The solution from Six Safety Systems is another concrete example of the many valuable applications of Tobii's eye-tracking technology in enterprise operations," said Henrik Eskilsson, CEO of Tobii Technology. "With this partnership, we hope to realize the true benefits of Tobii's robust eye-tracking offerings for drowsiness and distraction monitoring and contributing to the safety and management operations of the mining, oil and gas industries."

With Tobii's eye-tracking technology, the LUCI system will objectively and intelligently monitor operator status in real time to determine whether the operator is drowsy or distracted. From there, the system will recommend improvements to the actions of the operator to ensure greater safety.
