Timken Awards Scholarships to Students at 19 Locations Worldwide

CANTON, OH--April 19, 2012:  The Timken Company awarded scholarships to 38 children of Timken employees at 19 locations in six countries around the world. The scholarships, with a combined value of $310,000 and a total value of up to $790,000 over four years, are funded by The Timken Company Charitable and Educational Fund, Inc.

The $50,000 Henry Timken Scholar Award, which recognizes the top-ranked applicant and is renewable for up to three additional years for a total of $200,000, goes to Bridget Brately . Brately, the daughter of Michael Brately, manager of corporate services and leasing for Timken in Canton, is a graduating senior at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Louisville, Ohio, and plans to study international relations at The College of Wooster.

Selected for $30,000 scholarships, renewable for up to three additional years for a total of $120,000 each, are:

  • Brandi Biddle , the daughter of William Biddle, a Timken retiree, and a senior at Marlington High School in Alliance, Ohio, who plans to study engineering and exercise science at The Ohio State University; and
  • Rima Vasudevan , the daughter of Regina Vasudevan, head of communications for Timken in India, and a senior at Mount Carmel PU College in Bangalore, India, who plans to study chemical engineering at The University of Akron.

Five students were awarded $10,000 scholarships, renewable for up to three additional years for a total of $40,000 each:

  • Brian Coventry , the son of Mark Coventry, a principal process planning analyst for the company in Canton, and a senior at Jackson High School in Massillon, Ohio, plans to study chemical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology;
  • Shrestha Ghosh, the daughter of Ajoy Ghosh, junior maintenance analyst at Timken's facility in Jamshedpur, and a senior at Hill Top School in Jamshedpur, India, plans to study computer engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology.
  • Abigail Hoffman , the daughter of Tyler Hoffman, a manufacturing analyst for Timken in Union, S.C., and a senior at Dorman High School in Roebuck, S.C., plans to study biology and pre-medicine at Wofford College;
  • Georgina Spittle, the daughter of Peter Spittle, senior quality engineer for Timken in Wolverhampton, and a senior at Wolverhampton Girls' High School in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom, plans to study anthropology at Newnham College; and
  • Ke Yang (Karl) Xia , the son of Jin Xia, chief materials engineer for Timken in North Canton, and Min Jiang, a principal materials engineer in North Canton, and a senior at Jackson High School, plans to study economics and biochemistry at Yale University;

In addition, 30 students were awarded $5,000 scholarships:

  • Karl Anchikoski ,the son of Ernest Anchikoski, a journeyman at the Timken plant in Prince George, and a senior at Duchess Park Secondary in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada;
  • Rebecca Bradley , the daughter of Susan Bradley, senior application program analyst in Canton, and a senior at South High School in Canton;
  • Joseph Campbell , the son of Robert Campbell, manager of aviation services in North Canton, and a senior at Green High School in Green, Ohio;
  • Calvin Chan , the son of Alex Chan, master machinist for Timken in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., and a senior at South Pasadena High School in South Pasadena, Calif.;
  • Hannah Christ , the daughter of Kathleen Christ, supply chain and continuous improvement specialist in Canton, and a senior at Hoover High School in North Canton;
  • Clara Cioli , the daughter of Susi Mariani, logistics scheduler in Brescia, Italy, and a senior at Liceo Scientifico 'F. Moretti' in Brescia;
  • Courtney Coffman , the daughter of Alan Coffman, electric arc furnace attendant at Timken's Faircrest plant in Canton, and a senior at Claymont High School in Urichsville, Ohio;
  • Bogdan Gabriel Dumitru , the son of Daniel Dumitru, operations coordinator - forge, in Ploiesti, and a senior at the Colegiul National Alexandru Ioan Cuza in Ploiesti, Romania;
  • Miranda Fabian , the daughter of Robert Fabian, reliability specialist for the company in Canton, and a senior at Hoover High School in North Canton;
  • Annesha Ganguly , the daughter of Amit Ganguly, head of services for Timken in Kolkata India, and a senior at Delhi Public School Megacity in Kolkata;
  • Ashley Geiger , the daughter of Robert Geiger, machine repair mechanic at Timken's plant in Bucyrus, Ohio, and a senior at Colonel Crawford High School in North Robinson, Ohio;
  • Gregory Heinle , the son of Dean Heinle, business process manager-manufacturing in North Canton, and a senior at Hoover High School;
  • Emily Hoff , the daughter of Robert Hoff, senior quality systems specialist in Canton, and a senior at Hoover High School;
  • Jenna Kelly , the daughter of Patrick Kelly, information technology basis specialist in Canton, and a senior at Jackson High School in Massillon;
  • Michael Kerr , the son of Stephen Kerr, account executive for Timken in Birmingham, Ala., and a senior at Spain Park High School in Hoover, Ala.;
  • Timothy Lafalam , the son of Scott Lafalam, a principal application engineer at the Timken facility in Keene, N.H., and a senior at Narragansett High School in Baldwinville, Mass.;
  • Tyler Maarschalk , the son of John Maarschalk, a principal tooling designer for Timken in Canton, and a senior at Marlington High School in Alliance, Ohio;
  • Kylee Miller , the daughter of William Miller, electrical maintainer at the Faircrest plant in Canton, and a senior at GlenOak High School in Canton;
  • Keira O'Hearn, the daughter of John O'Hearn, tunnel boring sales specialist in Redmond, and a senior at Redmond High School in Redmond, Wash.;
  • Kyle Peterson , the son of Thomas Peterson, principal reliability systems engineer in Canton, and a senior at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Louisville;
  • Leah Reese , the daughter of Keith Reese, master and gauges group leader in Canton, and a senior at Tuslaw High School in Massillon, Ohio;
  • Sarina Sedgwick , the daughter of Scott Sedgwick, chief engineer for Timken in Mesa, Ariz., and a senior at Hamilton High School in Chandler, Ariz.;
  • Randhir Singh , the son of Rameshwar Singh, an operator at Timken's plant in Jamshedpur, India, and a senior at Jamshedpur Public School (A.I.W.C) in Jamshedpur;
  • Philip Smith , the son of Kelvin Smith, Timken retiree, and a senior at Northwestern Regional High School in Winsted, Conn.;
  • Sean Szoch , the son of Daniel Szoch, program manager of anti-counterfeiting in Canton, and a senior at Hudson High School in Hudson, Ohio;
  • Smrithi Upadhya, the daughter of Shreenath Upadhya, head of product technology in Bangalore, India, and a senior at the Deeksha Centre for Learning PU College in Bangalore;
  • Paige Ward , the daughter of Paul Ward, senior decision support specialist in Canton, and a senior at Tuslaw High School;
  • Theresa Waseity , the daughter of Kristine Waseity, senior information technology business alignment specialist in Canton, and Timken retiree George Waseity Jr., and a senior at Lake High School in Uniontown, Ohio;
  • Travis Wilson , the son of Michael Wilson, grind set-up operative in Lebanon, N.H., and a senior at Hartford High School in White River Junction, Vt.; and
  • Carly York , the daughter of Tony York, production control analyst at the Timken facility in Randleman, N.C., and a senior at Eastern Randolph High School in Ramseur, N.C.
