| WHY: | With the price of a gallon of gasoline near or exceeding $4 per gallon in recent weeks, Pennsylvania's consumers continue spending more to travel, in addition to seeing price increases for purchased goods due to increased transportation costs. | |
| The event is designed to educate public officials on the benefits of natural gas as a transportation fuel. Natural gas at EQT's station in the Strip District is priced at $1.76 per gallon equivalent compared to gasoline. With abundant and cleaner burning natural gas available in the various shale basins in the United States, including the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania, greater use of natural gas vehicles can lead to enhanced air quality and energy independence, as well lower transportation costs. The build-out of natural gas refueling stations throughout Pennsylvania will lead to economic growth and encourage consumers to select a less-expensive, locally produced, and cleaner transportation fuel. | ||
