LOS ANGELES--April 9, 2012:  On April 10, Motor Press Guild (MPG), the largest automotive media association in North America, will host its monthly meeting at The Proud Bird Restaurant in Los Angeles with guest speaker Rep. John Campbell.  Campbell will share his insights into the current state of transportation and its relationship to economic policy.

"We have seen great changes in the automotive industry with federal fuel economy and safety regulations," said Laura Burstein, president, Motor Press Guild. "This is a unique opportunity to hear Congressman Campbell's take on how what happens in Washington determines what happens in the design studio and on the assembly line."

Campbell, Republican congressman representing the 48th district in South Orange County, Calif., spent 25 years in the automotive industry as a dealer owner and financial advisor for several franchises including Nissan, Mazda, Ford, Saturn and Saab.  In 2011, Campbell authored and advocated for H.R.3271, the Low Volume Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Act, which seeks to help aftermarket, classic and small car companies in California work around the demanding current federal safety and emission standards.  Campbell also currently serves on three financial/economic-related committees in the House of Representatives.

A classic car enthusiast and collector, Campbell's collection includes a 1973 Buick Riviera and a 1936 Cord.
