Popular mobile traffic app for the iPhone and iPad has been completely redesigned for easier use

SANTA CLARA, CA--April 6, 2012: Beat the Traffic, a leading provider of real-time traffic information for broadcast media and mobile devices, today released Beat the Traffic 2.0 for iOS mobile platforms, featuring a complete redesign, greater traffic coverage than before and the ability for users to save favorite routes and receive instant, personalized traffic updates. As a reward for being loyal customers, the new version of the popular mobile traffic app is first available in the Beat the Traffic Plus version on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices through Apple's AppStore and iTunes. Users who purchased Beat the Traffic Plus in the past can upgrade for free.

Beat the Traffic 2.0 allows travelers to create and save their favorite routes and receive instant traffic reports before and during their commute. The new feature, called MyRoutes, provides one-screen access to personalized, door-to-door traffic reports that include commute times and are updated with real-time information about accidents and road delays. As traffic conditions change, MyRoutes will automatically notify users via text message and email, so users can modify their travel plans if possible. The free version of Beat the Traffic 2.0, to be released soon, will come with one free route on MyRoutes. By upgrading to Beat the Traffic Pro from within the app, users will be able to create as many routes as they need.

Like previous versions of Beat the Traffic -- which recently surpassed two million downloads on iOS, Android and Blackberry platforms combined -- Beat the Traffic 2.0 still provides drivers with instant, detailed access to current road conditions, including accidents, congestion and road repair work, along with live camera views and the ability to report incidents from the road. Yet Beat the Traffic 2.0 has been completely redesigned with an even friendlier look and feel -- including new screens, colors and icons -- while providing a smoother user experience. Beat the Traffic 2.0 also includes real-time traffic data for a greater number of secondary streets throughout North America, providing motorists with more traffic information than ever before.

"As gasoline prices continue to rise, today's travelers are more concerned than ever about saving time and fuel," said Beat the Traffic CEO Andre Gueziec. "As a result, we reimagined what the ultimate traffic app should look like and what it should do, and then redesigned Beat the Traffic specifically to give users greater control. By making Beat the Traffic 2.0 more powerful and yet easier to use, we think it will appeal to our current fans as well as new, increasingly frustrated commuters who are looking for ways to Beat the Traffic."

Along with the real-time traffic details in more than 100 cities throughout North America, other new features of Beat the Traffic 2.0 include:

  • Optimized for Apple's new Retina display feature on the iPhone and iPad
  • Easier-to-use tools for reporting incidents from the road
  • Ability to follow a user's location while traveling
  • New 'satellite view' mode

Users can not only save money by using Beat the Traffic 2.0, but they can earn prizes, too. By participating in Beat the Traffic Mobile Rewards and simply using the mobile app and its features -- such as checking one's personalized routes or using the map for 10 minutes or longer -- travelers can earn points that they can redeem for gift cards from Amazon, iTunes and other merchants.

Beat the Traffic Plus is available right now on the Apple AppStore.
