Winners Announced from F1 in Schools Pennsylvania Regional Competition held at SAE International

WARRENDALE, PA--March, 23, 2012: On Sat., May 17, 2012, SAE International hosted the 2012 F1 in Schools Pennsylvania Regional Competition at its World Headquarters in Warrendale, Pa. The event featured 17 middle and high school teams from around Pennsylvania.

The Grand Champion of the competition was from Elizabethtown Area High School, Elizabethtown, Pa., the Infinitum team, consisting of members Brian Rupp, Sarah Sellers, and Makayla Schaar; they also won first place in the high school division.

Second place in the high school division was taken by the Victus team of Manheim Township High School, Lancaster, Pa., and third place honors were garnered by Steel City Racing of Pine-Richland High School, Gibsonia, Pa.

In the middle school division, first place honors went to Team Sabertooth from Brentwood Middle School, Pittsburgh, Pa., and second and third place went to teams from South Park Middle School, South Park, Pa., Team Nova and Team Alacrity. The "Fastest Car" trophy went to the FastLane Racing team from Northern Lebanon High School, Fredericksburg, Pa., and the "Sponsorship and Marketing Award" went to the team from South Park High School, Impulse.

The award for "Best Verbal Presentation" went to team Inferno Racing  from Wilson High School.

  • Donegal Middle School, Marietta, Pa.: The Vipers, Donegal Magnums
  • Wilson High School, West Lawn, Pa.: Inferno Racing 
  • Pine-Richland High School: M 71 Racing
  • Northern Lebanon High School: Cross Circuit Racing
  • South Park Middle School: Team Vortex
