BATON ROUGE, LA--March 12, 2012: Cellcontrol, a leading provider of technology to stop distracted driving, announced today that its award-winning technology has now become the first distracted driving solution to operate on mobile phone devices based on Qualcomm Incorporated's Brew® in the U.S.

“We are committed to supporting developers in getting their innovative solutions to market quickly and efficiently.”

Cellcontrol's patent-pending, Bluetooth-enabled technology is integrated directly with a vehicle's onboard electronics to determine vehicle state, and then linked to driver and/or passenger mobile devices to implement usage policies immediately upon vehicle movement.

This ground breaking technology is now available on multiple Brew devices, with additional Brew devices to follow, extending this critical protection to a huge segment of the driving public that use feature phones instead of smart phones.

Feature phones represent an excellent value alternative for people who do not want the expense of a smart phone. Until now, fleet managers and parents of teenagers had no technology available to enable them to prevent texting, emailing, surfing, game-playing or phoning by drivers with feature phones -- but now Cellcontrol's technology is available for multiple leading Brew devices.

"We knew there was a great need to prevent distracted driving for owners of feature phones, and now there's a truly effective solution available on Brew® devices," said Chad Kennedy, Senior Engineer at Cellcontrol who led the Brew® development and certification efforts. "Our company is focused on the critical need to prevent accidents and our Brew certification takes us a major step forward in being able to offer this technology to the feature phone segment, particularly for the field services and other fleet-based or commercial markets."

"Brew is well-positioned to support advanced applications geared at innovative uses for feature phones, such as Cellcontrol's distracted driving solution," said Mitch Oliver, vice president of ecosystem development for Qualcomm. "We are committed to supporting developers in getting their innovative solutions to market quickly and efficiently."
