LONDON – Feb 8, 2012: Ferrari North Europe supported the SMMT reception to mark the start of National Apprenticeship Week, which was attended by Minister of State for Further Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning, John Hayes, MP. Held at the SMMT offices in Central London, the event demonstrated the range of apprenticeship opportunities and their importance within the automotive industry, both for manufacturers and young people.

Matteo Torre, Regional Manager Ferrari North Europe, commented: “We were delighted to support the SMMT’s event because Ferrari North Europe has made significant investments in our new in-house Apprentice programme, which is part of the Ferrari philosophy of investing in young talent. Ferrari’s aim is to ensure that the Ferrari dealer network has a continual supply of high quality, knowledgeable and expertly trained apprentices who we hope will become the Ferrari technicians of the future. In fact, we anticipate that the Ferrari Apprentice scheme will become the de facto route into becoming a Ferrari technician in the dealer network, as it is the best and most complete way to ensure that the technicians have the right training and specialised knowledge that is needed in order to work on a car like a Ferrari.”

The Ferrari North Europe Apprentice Programme is open to all school leavers aged 16 or over. Apprentices are employed at Ferrari dealerships throughout the UK and attend 24 weeks of dedicated Ferrari training at Ferrari North Europe’s head office during the 3 year programme. The training includes hands-on diagnostic and mechanical training on the current range of Ferrari models such as the Ferrari 458 Italia; the Apprentices also have access to other models from Ferrari’s recent past, including the F430 Coupe, to ensure they have the necessary skills to confidently service the cars they are most likely to see in the workshop at their dealerships.
