MARLOW, UNITED KINGDOM – Feb 7, 2012: Tristar Worldwide has taken delivery of 53 Volvo XC vehicles over the winter months to help it cope with the potential chaos that, as in previous years, has been caused on UK roads by bad weather.

Tristar, who recently renewed its three-year car supply deal with Volvo for 2,100 cars to service its Virgin Atlantic Airways' Upper Class chauffeur contract, has now taken delivery of 18 Volvo XC70s and 35 XC90s to ensure it delivers a quality service.

Come ice, rain or snow, Tristar trusts the Volvo XC brand to get its customers safely from the front door to the airport, making their travel experience as seamless as possible.

XC is Volvo's cross country brand, offering comfort, practicality and all wheel drive when tackling bad weather. The XC70 offers a raised ride height, aiding driver visability, along with Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake system, keeping both driver and passenger safe and secure, and with ample leg room passengers can enjoy a comfortable and relaxed drive to and from the airport.

Tristar chose the Volvo XC90 for its mix of luxury, generous leg room and impressive safety features. The car's all wheel drive means that the driver is in charge at all times, giving both driver and passenger peace of mind that they will get to their destination safely and on time.

To ensure the highest levels of passenger safety, all XC70 models feature Volvo's City Safety technology as standard. By keeping watch on vehicles in front with the help of a laser sensor built into the windscreen and radar in the front grille, City Safety will automatically brake the vehicle if the driver does not respond in time when the car in front slows down or stops - or if the driver is driving too fast towards a stationary vehicle.

City Safety is also present on Tristar's current fleet of new V70s and S80s and is fitted as standard in six of Volvo's models.

Dean De Beer, Tristar's Group CEO said: "Volvo is well known for its excellent safety features, so we can be confident that with our new addition of Volvo XC70s and XC90s, we can tackle whatever the British weather throws at us."

Selwyn Cooper, Volvo Car UK's national corporate operations manager, said: "We have been supplying Tristar with a range of Volvos for over 15 years and understand that timing and reliability is vitally important to their business. We believe Tristar needs to be fully prepared for all weather conditions and our XC range will help keep operations running smoothly through the winter months."
