DETROIT--Jan. 20, 2012: StrataTRIM(TM) polyurethane composite board technology is a cost effective, lightweight solution for a variety of interior trim components, requiring high strength and good dimensional stability. Applications include: load floors, deck lids, package trays, sun shades and seat backs. This advanced approach adds value by providing synergy between the composite board and the forming process, to optimize material usage and performance.

Domenic Sinopoli, Executive Director of Sales and General Manager StrataFORM(TM), The Woodbridge Group(R), states "This innovation offers a new industry standard for material properties and product performance, for a growing list of interior trim applications. The composite boards used to manufacture StrataTRIM(TM) products are compatible with conventional forming processes, and are ideally matched with StrataFORM(TM) flow forming technology. This advanced forming process optimizes material use and product performance. As a result, a wide range of interior trim products can be engineered to offer significant weight and cost advantages versus rigid plastic alternatives. StrataTRIM(TM) products can maximize cargo management opportunities in a variety of today's multifunctional vehicles, on display here at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). This technology also features in-mold decorative trim including: non-woven, knit fabric and carpeting, and good fastening capability to support the use of conventional attachments and hinges."

StrataTRIM(TM) advantages include: a system cost savings, superior design flexibility, enhanced surface quality, improved acoustics, up to 50% mass reduction, glass and glass-free reinforcement options, low cost composite tooling, shortened tool lead time, quick prototyping and a cost effective production option for low volume programs.

StrataTRIM(TM) products are readily available across North America and more recently in China through the joint venture partner Wuxi Jixing Auto Parts Co., Ltd. The new joint venture, named Wuxi Woodbridge Jixing Advanced Polymer Technology Co, Ltd., represents the first Stratas(TM) product line expansion outside of North America, for The Woodbridge Group(R).

The Woodbridge Group(R) and its partners in The World Polyurethane Alliance(TM) operate 62 facilities in 19 countries, as global leaders in the development and production of polyurethane and expanded polypropylene products. Automotive applications include components for seating, structural support, interior soft trim products, headliner systems, cargo management solutions, and engineered products for occupant protection and acoustical management.
