PARIS – Jan 13, 2012: The Mégane Renault Sport 250 Cup is celebrating a famous hat-trick after being named What Car? magazine’s best hot hatch for the third year running.

Britain’s biggest car buyer’s guide hailed the Mégane as the “perfect hot hatch” and said none of its more expensive rivals had the “blend of power and poise that marks out the Renault”.

A delighted Patrice Ratti, Managing Director, Renault Sport Technologies, collected the award at a glittering ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London.

He said: “I’m extremely honoured to accept this award for the Mégane Renault Sport which has once again proved to be the best hot hatch on the market. To win this prestigious award three years in a row is a fantastic achievement for all the Renault Sport team who continue to work tirelessly to hone every aspect of the driving experience in each of our hot hatches. I’m delighted their efforts continue to be acknowledged by our customers and the media, and by winning important awards such as these.”

What Car? has truly fallen for the 250hp Mégane, claiming the performance is “brutal” and that it provides more attitude and exhilaration than any other hot hatch on sale.

What Car? magazine editor in chief Chas Hallett explained: “The Mégane Renault Sport 250 Cup is the perfect hot hatch. Most importantly, it’s engaging and huge fun on an empty country road, but it’s also practical enough for everyday use. It’s a comfortable winner of our Hot Hatch of the Year award.”

Renault celebrated a double success on the night with victory also for the third year running the Clio Renault Sport 200 Cup in the What Car? best buy £15,000-£20,000 category. The judges commented on its “level of dynamic finesse that makes it a serious performance weapon” and how it will “thrill you like few other hot hatches can.”
