Headline News from Delhi: VW may bring Up to India

NEW DELHI, INDIA – Jan 6, 2012: Volkswagen Group is considering launching its Up city car as part of a big investment in its Indian operations by the end of next year.

This will also include launching other models and strengthening its research activities in the country where it has two manufacturing facilities. The investment will be over and above the €500m announced three years ago.

VW's chief representative in India, John Chako told reporters: "There are huge opportunities to expand in India and we are planning new investment to ramp up our production capacity, introduce new models and increase our research and development work here."
