On The Pull Again... Volkswagen Scoops Third 2011 Top Towcar Award

MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – Dec 23, 2011: The Volkswagen Passat Estate has been named as the Top Towcar of the Year 2011 in a poll of caravan enthusiasts. This brings to three the number of overall Towcar of the Year awards claimed by the manufacturer this year.

In Volkswagen’s latest towing triumph, readers of CaravanTimes, the UK’s largest online caravan magazine, were asked to choose between five top towcars and the Passat Estate came out on top.

Chris Jefferies, Editor of CaravanTimes.co.uk, said: ‘Among our forum members, Volkswagen is renowned as a reliable, practical and economical choice. The Passat Estate beat off strong competition this year and we expect to see plenty of them at campsites across the UK in 2012.’

CaravanTimesis the UK’s largest online magazine for touring enthusiasts and the annual Readers’ Poll is the only caravan award in the country that is voted for by the public, so this award represents a real seal of approval from the caravanning community.

In June 2011, the Passat Estate TDI 170 PS was also named champion at the Towcar Awards, which are judged by experts from What Car? and Practical Caravan magazines as well as The Camping and Caravanning Club. The same car also won its weight category, while the Golf claimed a class win.

In September, the Jetta triumphed at The Caravan Club Towcar of the Year Awards 2012, winning its price category and the Overall Towcar of the Year title. The Touareg also claimed two accolades.
