Stefan Sielaff To Head Volkswagen Design Centre In Potsdam From February 1, 2012

WOLFSBURG - Dec, 23, 2011: Stefan Sielaff (49), currently Head of Audi Design, has been appointed Head of the Volkswagen Design Centre in Potsdam effective February 1, 2012. He succeeds Thomas Ingenlath, who is leaving the company. Sielaff will also assume responsibility for Group Interior Design at the same time. In this function, he will report direct to Walter de Silva, Head of Group Design.

Stefan Sielaff joined the Volkswagen Group in 1990, beginning his career in the interior design department at Audi. From 1995 the design graduate was entrusted with setting up the Group’s Design Centre Europe in Spain. In 1997 he was placed in charge of the Design Studio in Munich and was appointed head of Audi Interior Design in the same year. In 2003, Sielaff moved to DaimlerChrysler as Design Director of the Interior Competence Centre, returning to the Volkswagen Group in 2006 to become Head of Audi Design.

Stefan Sielaff has been instrumental in shaping Audi’s brand identity in recent years. He further developed the single frame, the characteristic face of the Audi brand, and designed the LED light arrays with which Audi set a new standard in the car industry. Numerous show cars such as the Audi e-tron Spyder or the A2 e-tron were inspired by his creativity. The numerous series vehicles that bear his signature include the Audi A6 and the A8 as well as the A1 and Q3.
