Majestic Steel Partners with Cleveland Cavaliers in Manufacturing Scholarship Program

CLEVELAND--Dec. 20, 2011:  Majestic Steel USA, in conjunction with the Cleveland Cavaliers, will award scholarships to students currently pursuing, or planning to pursue, a degree in a manufacturing program. This is the fifth year Majestic Steel has partnered with the Cleveland Cavaliers to provide scholarships to students interested in manufacturing careers.

Four students selected by Majestic Steel and the Cleveland Cavaliers will be awarded scholarships totaling $2,000 each. Winners are chosen based on their intention to pursue a manufacturing career, evidence of their interest in manufacturing, and academic performance.  The scholarships are intended to catalyze growth of the manufacturing sector by supporting students pursuing manufacturing degrees at one of three Northeast Ohio community colleges.

"A strong manufacturing base is vital in maintaining the economic viability of Northeast Ohio, and the Majestic Steel USA-Cleveland Cavaliers scholarship program is one way in which we can invest in a bright manufacturing future for our community," said Tom Innis, Majestic Steel's director of corporate relations.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be graduating high school seniors or first-year college students already enrolled in a manufacturing program at Cuyahoga Community College, Lakeland Community College or Lorain County Community College. Applicants must submit a scholarship application, high school transcript (if applicable) and the 2011 FAFSA by March 5, 2012 . Winners will be notified during the month of April and will be recognized in an on-court ceremony before a Cleveland Cavaliers' home game.
