Happy 236 Birthday Marines

Co-publisher’s Note: When I received the note (below) from Bob Parsons this morning, I thought it important to "pass along" not only Bob Parson’s good wishes but my own profound thanks to the Men and Women Marines who are there to protect and defend our way of life.

Although I have never had the privilege of becoming a Marine, the Corps has had a profound effect on my life. My Uncle Sol enlisted in the Marines in 1942 at age 16 and fought in Peleliu, Okinawa and other battles in the South Pacific and lived with the shrapnel embedded in his legs for his whole life.

My son Bruce (a founder of The Auto Channel)became a Marine at age 19 and after 7 years of active duty he became a civilian Marine, and has been so for the past 17 years. During this time I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet and observe some of the finest people I have ever met, whether on a base, or at home or at a Marine Ball or a Marine graduation ceremony, I am continually impressed with the absolute high quality of these people. Their dedication and patriotism is an example to what we as a nation are and will continue to be.

Thank You All.

Please join me on November 10, 2011, in wishing the United States Marine Corps a Happy 236th Birthday. I'm proud to honor my fellow Marines past and present on this special day.

I'd also like to extend this tribute to all of the men and women serving in every branch of the U.S. Military – Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force or Coast Guard. Thank you all for your tireless commitment to keeping our country safe.
