Celebration of Wheels at SPEED+STYLE+BEAUTY

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA – Nov 8, 2011: Some of the world’s most beautiful and desirable vehicles, from a stately 1909 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost to a svelte 1955 Ferrari 750 Monza and Dick Johnson’s rapid Bathurst Falcon XC Hardtop will come together in Brisbane this month for the third annual SPEED+STYLE+BEAUTY.

Replacing the event cancelled in January this year due to the Brisbane floods, the 2011 celebration of the automobile as an art form will be staged at the Portside Wharf at the;Brisbane Cruise Terminal from 25-27 November.

The 40 special vehicles in the show represent “a celebration of wheels” according to organiser Rod Gould, who has again welcomed Shannons as one of the event’s major sponsors.

Stunning 1930s classics confirmed for the show include a 1935 Rolls Royce Phantom111 Sedanca de Ville, a 1934 Mercedes 500K reproduction, a 1934 Ford (Hot Rod) Roadster and a magnificent 1935 Bugatti 57 C Fastback.

From the glorious Post War area of the 1950s and 1960s there is a rare 1953 Jaguar XK 120 Coupe, a 1959 Porsche RSK Spyder and a 1967 Corvette 327 ‘Side Pipe’, while the 1970s is highlighted by a 1970 Citroen DS Cabriolet, a 1973 BMW 3.0 CSL Art Car and the XC Falcon that Dick Johnson raced at Bathurst in 1978 and 1979.

Meanwhile the Supercars on display include a 1967 Maserati Ghibli, a 1977 Lamborghini Countach and a 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder.

There are also some magnificent classic motorcycles on display, ranging from a 1928 Triumph to Crash Cavanagh’s stunt bike.

Visitors to SPEED+STYLE+BEAUTY who get an insurance quote from Shannons at the show will be given a free coffee voucher.

All proceeds from the show go to Youngcare, an organisation that assists young Australians under 65 to get out of aged care.
