Škoda Original Parts Made In Mladá Boleslav Shipped Throughout The World

MLADÁ BOLESLAV, CZECH REPUBLIC – November 4, 2011: Škoda Original Parts are made in Mladá Boleslav. Now the first phase of the expansion of the worldwide logistics center for original parts and original accessories has been completed and the new delivery facility has started its trial operation. The existing expansion is part of a project, in which Škoda is investing a total of 800 million Czech crowns (32 million EUR). In the second phase, the project will continue with the erection of an automated high rack warehouse. It will be completed at the end of 2012.

The construction of the new hall took 11 months. The newly opened delivery terminal expands the surface area of the center for original parts and original accessories to a total of 68,600 m˛. The surface area of the new terminal consists of 18,600 m˛. The new hall has been designed in such a way that the logistics area of the Škoda Parts Center can be expanded according to demand. With the expansion of the logistics capacities, the speed and quality of the handling and delivery of orders will be further enhanced.

“In this time of successful growth of Škoda, we must provide sufficient capacities in the area of sales of original parts and original accessories as well. The turnover of our components grows with the number of the model series,” says Jürgen Stackmann, member of the board of directors for the area of Sales and Marketing. And he adds: “The first phase of the construction of new logistics areas was executed perfectly. The building meets the highest standards for the modern parts logistics of our brand.”

In the Škoda Parts Center, deliveries of original parts and original accessories are prepared and executed around the clock. More than 500 employees from the departments of sales, procurement, material planning, IT, and logistics are working in a three-shift operation. Every day, an average of more than 24,000 items are processed and dispatched worldwide to more than 100 markets. Domestically, deliveries are received until the next morning; within Europe, deliveries arrive at the customer within 24 hours. The modern logistics center in Mladá Boleslav also provides logistical services for the Volkswagen Group, particularly for the markets of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and India. Overall, more than 1,000 suppliers ship their products to the Parts Center.
