NHRA Pro Stock - Speedco To Support Coughlin's Return

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 3, 2011: Speedco Truck Lube and Tires president Mark Clark announced his company's support of five-time world champion drag racer Jeg Coughlin Jr. in 2012 as the decorated professional returns to the Pro Stock category in a new JEGS.com/Mopar-sponsored Dodge Avenger.

Coughlin captured Pro Stock titles in 2000, 2002, 2007 and 2008, and was the 1992 world champion in Super Gas. Although he didn't compete in Pro Stock racing in 2011, he remained active in the sport by participating in numerous high-dollar bracket races and a handful of NHRA national events, several of which he won.

His new venture is a factory-backed effort supported by The Chrysler Corporation, Mopar, the Chrysler Tech Center, Speedco and KYMCO USA. The team will utilize powerplants built in-house at JNR Racing Engines, which the Coughlin's co-own with engine builders Nick Ferri and Roy Simmons.

"We've got a top-notch group put together and Speedco certainly fits in well with our team and our company," Coughlin said. "Mark has created a real family atmosphere at Speedco and I know it's a lot like the organization we have here at JEGS, where our associates are a vital part of the equation.

"I have known Mark for a long time. He raced a Super Gas car when I was helping my brothers in the mid to late 80's and he shares quite a passion for the sport.
