Students to Win Money for Scholarships and Favorite Charities in Ford Blue Oval Scholar Contest

DEARBORN, MI--Nov. 2, 2011: Ford Motor Company Fund launched the "Heart Behind the Oval" video contest which offers prizes to college students who showcase how they are making a difference through participation with a local non-profit organization.  The contest also provides grants to the non-profits where the students volunteer.  

The first place prize winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship with $2,500 to the featured non-profit.  Winners in second place will receive a $2,500 scholarship with $1,000 to the featured non-profit; and third place, a $1,000 scholarship with $1,000 to the featured non-profit.

"The Heart Behind the Oval scholarship contest salutes students who share the same value of giving back to the community that Ford has demonstrated for more than a century," said Mike Schmidt, director, Ford Motor Company Fund.  "Equally important, the program allows us to invest in these students' futures."

The video contest runs through November 30 and is housed on the Ford Blue Oval Scholars Facebook page (Ford Blue Oval Scholars).

Ford Blue Oval Scholars is a Ford Fund program that supports Ford scholarship recipients. Ford provides more than $1 million in scholarships to students each year.

The program web site Ford Scholars is an online resource to support Ford Blue Oval scholars and all other college students as they proceed through their academic and professional endeavors.

Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services works with community partners to advance driving safety, education and American heritage and community life. The Ford Motor Company Fund has operated for more than 60 years with ongoing funding from Ford Motor Company. The award-winning Ford Driving Skills for Life program teaches new drivers through a variety of hands-on and interactive methods. Innovation in education is encouraged through national programs that enhance high school learning and provide college scholarships and university grants. Through the Ford Volunteer Corps, more than 27,000 Ford employees and retirees each year work on projects that better their communities in dozens of countries.
