TOPEKA, Oct. 23, 2011: Sports Car Club of America's Board of Directors voted today to suspend through the 2013 season, the rule that placed classes on probation, and ultimately eliminated them from the National racing program.

The rule (GCR item 9.1.13) states that any class averaging less than 2.5 cars per National race across all nine divisions for two consecutive seasons would be subject to either consolidation or designation as Regional-only status.

"In light of a number of changes over the last year to the Club Racing program, and more planned for the future, the Club Racing Board and the Board of Directors believe that it is in the best interest for the program to suspend the rule," SCCA Planning Committee Chairman Bill Kephart said.

The suspension of the rule means that Touring 3, which failed to meet the 2.5 minimum over the 2010 and 2011 National Club Racing seasons, will continue as a National class and, along with the other 27 National classes, continue to hold a National Championship race at the Runoffs®.

The Club Racing Board will continue to monitor class participation, and manage classes with the ability to consolidate in the future.
