VRA Pro Sprints - Niemela Posts Another Solid Top 5 At Ventura

Santa Barbara, Oct. 12, 2011: The Markus Niemela Experience produced another significant performance in the Steve Watt Enterprises car at Ventura, producing the top speed in practice, then followed up with a P6 in his heat, and a P4 in the main.

"I started seventh in the heat, but it was really hard to pass because the track was so hooked up and only offered one lane. After the invert, I started thirteeth and drove up to fourth, but again, with the track offering only a single lane, I simply ran out of laps and had to take what I could get."

"Brent Camarillo ended up winning the main, with Jace Vander Veerdt second, with Brian Camarillo closing out the podium. The car was pretty fast, throughout, but with a P13 starting spot and no cautions, in the end it was quite hard to get close enough fight for a win."

Regardless of his short-season and a rib injury, Niemela continues to produce consistent postings on dirt. Currently, after sixteen races in USAC and VRA sprint events, plus periodic USAC midget runs, Markus has qualified for every main event while producing eight top 4 finishes, thereby creating an current average finish metric of 4.9.

On other non-motorsports Niemela Experience performances, Markus competed in his first Professional BMX event last weekend at the NBL State Qualifier in Reedly California. "It was my first race with the pros. Afterwards, my legs were so tired that I didn't have much left, so I was happy with fifth."

Next up, more Pro Sprint events and Midget testing in preparation for the Chili Bowl. So stay tuned!
