PALO ALTO, CA--Sept. 9, 2011: Plug-In 2012 -- the fifth annual international conference focusing on the technical advances, market research and policy initiatives shaping the future of plug-in electric vehicles -- will be held July 23-26, 2012 at the San Antonio Convention Center, event organizer Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) announced today.

The 2012 event will follow the highly successful Plug-In 2011 that was held in Raleigh, N.C. The conference attracts automotive manufacturers, component suppliers, electric utilities, government agencies, the environmental community and academia to exchange ideas and gather information needed to make key decisions regarding the electric transportation market.

Among its features is a "public night," an evening devoted to the local community where visitors can inspect electric vehicles, batteries and other components of electric drive on the exhibition floor.

"Texas is an active area for both the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles and the deployment of the supporting charging infrastructure," said Mark Duvall, director of electric transportation research at EPRI.  "This is therefore an excellent location for Plug-In 2012, bringing together the key stakeholders to continue the discussion of how to accelerate the electrification of transportation."

Past Plug-In Conference & Expositions have been held in California and North Carolina. The Texas conference is the first that will be held in the interior part of the country.

More information will be available in coming months on the Plug-In 2012 website. To learn more about Plug-In 2011, visit Plug In 2011.
