Volkswagen Passenger Cars Grows Deliveries 12.1 Percent to 3.34 Million Vehicles in Period to August

WOLFSBURG, Germany--Sept. 9, 2011: The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand reported growth in the Asia/Pacific region, delivering 1.26 (1.10; +14.3 percent) million vehicles there from January to August, of which 1.13 (1.02; +11.3 percent) million units were handed over to customers in China, the largest single market. Developments in North America, where the brand delivered 320,700 (263,700; +21.6 percent) vehicles to customers in the period to August, were also very encouraging. The Jetta was particularly successful there. 511,800 (479,800) vehicles were delivered in the South America region during the same period, representing an increase of 6.7 percent.

Vehicle deliveries in Europe continued to develop well, with the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand handing over 1.13 (1.04; +9.1 percent) million models to customers. The brand reported an increase of 45.2 percent in the Central and Eastern Europe region, delivering 130,200 (89,700) units. The brand doubled deliveries in the single market of Russia to 66,900 (32,800; +104.0 percent) units. Volkswagen Passenger Cars also reported growth in Western Europe (excluding Germany), where 606,200 (584,800; +3.7 percent) units were delivered. In the home market of Germany, customers took possession of 394,700 (362,000; +9.0 percent) new Volkswagen vehicles.
