Rauma, August 30, 2011: Multi-talented motorsports athlete Markus Niemela will test his specialized water racing kart tomorrow in preparation for an attempt to jump Otanlahti Bay, as part of the annual Poroholma Grand Prix in early September.

“The bay is about 500 yards wide, and the attempt will either be very cool, or not cool at all,” he said. “I'll have to hit the water very fast to get the kart aquaplaning, and hope it doesn't bounce out of control once I hit the surface, or allow the nose to drop and submarine. Either of those results would be bad for me," he grinned. "Regardless, the kart looks to be badass, as we'll certainly see tomorrow.”

Once the GP is completed, Niemela will return to the US and rejoin the VRA Sprint Car Championship, along with testing a USAC Midget Car for the Chili Bowl Indoor Midget Championship in November.
