GEICO honors the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

WASHINGTON--August 23, 2011: GEICO will take part in a powerful moment in time as a sponsor of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., National Memorial. The memorial's dedication ceremony will take place on Sunday, August 28, at 11 a.m., on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and will coincide with the 48th anniversary of Dr. King's historic Civil Rights March on Washington and "I Have a Dream" speech.

"The opportunity to celebrate the life, legacy and dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., holds a deep significance for GEICO and its 25,000 associates," said Rynthia Rost, GEICO vice president. "GEICO associates pledged to support this initiative by raising money for the memorial when it was first announced many years ago. We are privileged to honor one of our nation's greatest leaders."

More than 250,000 people are expected to be on hand at the unveiling of the memorial, culminating a week of exciting events.

GEICO will host an exhibit booth at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center from Thursday, August 25, until Sunday, August 28. Alana Beard of the Washington Mystics and former Washington Redskins' football players Gary Clark, Brian Mitchell and Dexter Manley will be on hand to greet visitors as well as talk about Dr. King's impact and lasting legacy.

GEICO has also commissioned a commemorative coin in honor of the memorial dedication that will be given to convention center attendees visiting the GEICO booth. For more information, please visit Dedicate the Dream .
