FRANKFURT – Aug 5, 2011: The German Design Council’s Automotive Brand Contest, held for the first time this year, saw Audi win the special Brand of the Year category. Audi also took home “Best of the Best” honours in seven of 13 categories.

The German Design Council’s awards are the first international brand and design competition for the automotive industry. The prizes will be officially awarded on September 13 during Designers’ Night at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt.

“Audi has not only been crowned Brand of the Year, but also has been honoured in seven wide-ranging categories for design,” said Stefan Sielaff, Head of Audi Design.

“We are indeed a little bit proud of this result, because this involves a holistic image of the brand, whether in automotive design or in marketing. Throughout the entire company, we always want to be surprising and to inspire emotions.”

Best of the Best: The Audi e-tron Spyder won in the Concept & Study category, and the Audi A1 clubsport quattro won in the Accessories & Tuning category. The LED Matrix Beam, the non-glare LED high-beam headlight from Audi, was honoured in the Components & Technical category, and the Audi Carbon Ski took home honours in the Lifestyle category. Audi AreA1, a mobile test track for the Audi A1, won the Architecture & Events category. In addition, the launch mailing for the Audi Q3 was honoured in the Print category.
