MULGRAVE, AUSTRALIA – Aug 3, 2011: Available locally for only three months, the MINI RAY has already established itself as a proven success.

With the original allocation of 300 units now all accounted for, and despite significant demand from all international markets, MINI Australia has managed to secure an additional 200 units for the year.

The all-new MINI RAY, sharply priced at $28,800 drive-away, is powered by a 1.6 litre engine with VALVETRONIC valve operation ensuring efficient delivery of torque and fuel consumption. Maximum power output of 72kW and torque of 153Nm available from 3000 rpm propel the MINI RAY from 0 to 100 in 10.5 seconds, a mere one-tenth of a second behind the MINI Cooper automatic. Fuel consumption is 5.4 litres per 100 km on the combined cycle allowing the MINI RAY to travel well over 700 kms on a single tank of fuel.

Coinciding with additional MINI RAY units for 2011, MINI Australia has also announced an even hotter deal; the once optional Chilli package is now standard.

David Woollcott, National MINI Manager, says the Chilli Package has always been a proven favourite amongst customers.

“With an existing take up rate of over 60 percent, we are thrilled to announce the Chilli features as standard across MINI Hatch, Cabrio and Clubman models,” said Woollcott.

While the equipment varies from model to model, each vehicle will feature a wheel upgrade, automatic air conditioning, and cloth / leather combination upholstery.

MINI sales grew by 53.7 per cent in July when compared to the same month last year. With 226 customer deliveries, it was the strongest July on record.
