FYI: Chevrolet Buyer's Guide

CLEVELAND--Aug. 1, 2011:

WHAT:

As a lead-up to this year's annual convention of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), which will take place in Philadelphia Aug. 3-7, two Chevrolet teams -- Team Chicago and Team Atlanta --comprised of journalists from their respective cities will depart to the convention and engage in community service projects along the way in the second annual road trip -- The Road to NABJ: Powered by Chevrolet.

On August 1, Team Chicago will join Famicos Foundation in Cleveland and participate in two of their service projects. The first is with the "Voices for Change" program consisting of young writers ages 11 -- 17 years old. Working side-by-side these future journalists, the Chevrolet volunteers will engage with the students, answer questions about their profession and work on the students' current projects. Team Chicago will then head towards the League Park Market Place Community Garden where they will help install solar lights, tend the garden and harvest in-season vegetables.

"We are grateful to Chevrolet, the NABJ, and the volunteer journalists for their service to the community and providing a unique experience for our youth," said John O. Anoliefo, Executive Director of Famicos Foundation. "Famicos Foundation is proud of our rich history of service to the Cleveland community. We would not be able to fulfill our mission without the support of organizations and individuals like these."

Started in 1969 after the suburban flight that followed the race riots in July 1966, the Famicos Foundation mission is to improve the quality of life in greater Cleveland through neighborhood revitalization, affordable housing and integrated social services.

We invite you to come be a part of the experience as the Chevrolet volunteers learn more about Famicos Foundation and engage with the community it reaches.
