WASHINGTON--July 29, 2011: The Association of Global Automakers (Global Automakers) and its member companies stood with President Obama today in support of the next phase of proposed greenhouse gas (GHG)/corporate average fuel economy standards for 2017-2025 MY vehicles.

“Our members have always endorsed a comprehensive and harmonized national approach to reducing GHG emissions while improving fuel economy standards for cars and light trucks”

"Our members have always endorsed a comprehensive and harmonized national approach to reducing GHG emissions while improving fuel economy standards for cars and light trucks," said Global Automakers' President and CEO Michael J. Stanton.

"These standards will be tough to meet but our members accept the challenge," said Stanton. "We are fortunate to have a national plan that includes a midterm review and we look forward to working alongside the EPA, DOT and CARB on ironing out the details as the proposal moves through the federal regulatory process."

The Association of Global Automakers represents international motor vehicle manufacturers, original equipment suppliers, and other automotive-related trade associations. Our members' market share of both U.S. sales and production is 40 percent and growing. We work with industry leaders, legislators, and regulators to create the kind of public policy that improves vehicle safety, encourages technological innovation, and protects our planet. Our goal is to foster a competitive environment in which more vehicles are designed and built to enhance Americans' quality of life.
