AUTO CENTRAL – July 22, 2011: The Dacheng Service Center vehicle workshop in Changzhou in the Jiangsu province is the 1000th Bosch Car Service centre to be opened in China. The state-of-the-art center was officially opened in a ceremony featuring a traditional lion dance to bring luck which was attended by numerous guests from the worlds of business and politics. Bosch has been a major presence in China for many years now: The very first Bosch service center based in China was opened in Shanghai in 1926. Since then, the workshop network in China has been extended consistently. The first Bosch Car Service centre, which replaced what was formerly known as Bosch Services, commenced operations in 1998. By 2007, 500 workshops had already adopted the Bosch workshop concept due to the growing number of vehicle owners in China. The last four years have seen a positive boom in growth, with the number of Bosch Car Service centers in China doubling to 1000.

The center that marks this 1000th anniversary—the Dacheng Service Center in Changzhou—is situated around 200 kilometers north-west of Shanghai. The center offers 5000 square meters of workshop space with 25 workstations for service, repair and bodywork, and over 20 workstations for vehicle servicing tasks. The centre is equipped with the latest workshop technology from Bosch, such as the FSA 740 diagnostic unit, the KTS 570 test system and the BML 2415 battery tester. Some 120 associates complete service and repair work on all vehicle brands. Workshop owner Qi Guoxian has great confidence in the Bosch concept and plans to set up other Bosch Car Service centers over the coming years.

Around 15,000 Centers Form The World's Largest Independent Workshop Network

The reasons behind the ever-growing number of Bosch Car Service centers both in China and beyond are very clear. The complexity of today's vehicles continues to increase, posing significant challenges for vehicle workshops. With the help of its Bosch Car Service concept, Bosch—with its leading OEM expertise—is able to offer these workshops a very promising future. The range of services encompassed in this concept includes the classic Bosch fields of automotive electrics, electronics and diesel servicing as well as general mechanical vehicle repairs, inspections and oil servicing, the air-conditioning service, in-car multimedia, tires and autoglass service.

Today, 90 years after the first Bosch Service center was opened in Hamburg, Bosch Service has become the world's largest independent workshop network. Around 15,000 centers in 147 countries have joined the network. The centers receive comprehensive support from the system center for the Bosch workshop concept, including state-of-the-art testing technology, cross-brand technical information and training, as well as effective spare parts logistics. A standardized external image plus marketing initiatives for retailers, workshops and drivers designed to win and retain customers are also part of the package. A quality assurance system based on regular audits and unannounced workshop tests also helps to secure the high level of service quality offered by Bosch workshop partners. The size of the customer base is also testament to the fact that drivers are keen to take advantage of the concept: Every day, over 82,000 associates complete service and repair work on more than 180,000 vehicles in Bosch Car Service centers across the globe.
