Sanctioning Body News - Two Nationwide Series Teams Penalized For Rule Infractions At Kentucky Speedway

DAYTONA BEACH, July 12, 2011: NASCAR announced today penalties and fines to the No. 02 and No. 23 teams that compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series as a result of rule infractions at Kentucky Speedway.

The No. 02 car was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-J (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules); and 20A-2.3A (improperly attached weight) of the 2011 NASCAR rule book. The infraction occurred during practice on July 7.

As a result of the violation, crew chief Corrie Stott has been fined $10,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Aug. 17

The No. 23 car was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1; 12-4-J and 20A-5.9F (unapproved intake manifold). This violation was discovered during opening day inspection on July 7. Crew chief Walter Giles has been fined $5,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Aug. 17 as a result of the infraction.
