TACOMA, July 12, 2011: LeMay – America’s Car Museum (ACM) has issued an all-points bulletin for the coolest cars in the area to enter its Pre-Inaugural Collector Car Showcase, Aug. 7 at ACM’s headquarters in Fife, Wash.

The judged car show, open to the first 120 entrants, will feature 12 classes – ranging from stock antique cars through 1931 to present-day sports cars, as well as customs, modifieds and hot rods. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Car collectors, clubs and enthusiasts can come together at ACM headquarters for a day of pure automotive fun,” said Sandy Scott, ACM events manager. “This is ACM’s third car show and we always get an eclectic group of eye-catching cars.”

Scott added this year’s car show will serves as a “bridge” to next year’s event. “When the Museum opens in its permanent home in Tacoma, we’ll hold the event on huge grass show field. That will really be something to see.”

When ACM officially opens in May 2012, the 165,000-sq.-ft., four-story museum, situated along the Seattle/Tacoma corridor, will house more than a century of automotive history, from Fords to Ferraris, Packards to Pontiacs, and Corvettes to Cadillacs.

Some of ACM’s cars will be on display at the Aug.7 Pre-Inaugural Collector Car Showcase. Scott said there’s no cost to enter a vehicle in the show, but early sign-up is suggested since space is limited and there will be no day-of-show registration. Spectator admission is $10 for adults; $5 for active military and children ages 6-12; and ACM members get in free.
