GOODWOOD, UNITED KINGDOM – June 28, 2011: Three iconic models on display including the first “Continuation” 4.3 Litre Tourer

The Alvis Car Company will be using the Goodwood Festival of Speed to reinforce its commitment to the iconic British brand by having three models on its stand all representing examples of the bodywork that can be produced. Each can be tailored to customer requirements and preferences, including the re-introduced and renowned 1930’s Alvis 4.3 Litre Touring model, created by using the original technical drawings, allied to the latest CAD/CAM technology.

The three models on the Alvis stand at Goodwood include the first ‘brand new’ Alvis 4.3 Tourer, making real the continuation series some 72 years after the last 4.3 Litre Tourer was produced, the original details of which were announced at last year’s Festival of Speed. A fully restored Alvis TD21 Drop Head Coupe will also be displayed together with an Alvis Speed Twenty Five bodied by Lancefield, considered to be one of the most beautiful cars ever produced. All three models, and their differing bodywork designs, are indications of the bespoke coachwork that The Alvis Car Company are capable of producing.

The 4.3 Litre Alvis Tourer was the fastest non-supercharged production car of its day, and the continuation series lives up to that heritage. Manufactured from the original drawings, the 4.3 Litre Alvis in-line six cylinder engine is totally faithful to the 1936 design, in maintaining all its period character and quality, yet utilising modern technology for emission compliance. Moreover, by using modern materials, fuel injection and engine management, this powerplant will deliver even more horsepower and improved fuel consumption.

Alan Stote, Red Triangle and Alvis Car Company proprietor, said: “We announced the 4.3 reintroduction of Litre Short Chassis manufacture at the Festival of Speed last year, and its realisation represents the first stage of our broader business plan: to maintain service to existing Alvis owners and broaden our offering with the reintroduction of selected authentic Alvis models in line with the company’s founding vision. Visitors to Goodwood will be able to see the practical results of that plan.”
