MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – June 28, 2011: Skills learning and career development are an important part of Suzuki GB Plc’s operations and the company is pleased to celebrate the success of a dozen employees who have recently gained National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). Their achievements fall within a broad spectrum of training and qualification opportunities that extend all the way from Suzuki’s showrooms and service workshops to its administrative offices and warehouses.

The NVQ courses are available to employees over the age of 25 and are designed to help them gain qualifications and training directly relevant to their work. The areas covered include warehousing, business and administration and customer service.

The scheme falls within the Apprenticeship Programme, supported by the Government through the Skills Funding Agency, and offers both intermediate (level 2 qualification) and advanced (level 3) apprenticeship frameworks. The NVQ level taken is determined by the individual’s job and level of responsibility and in order to gain the qualification, they need to meet criteria based on their area of work.

Each NVQ level comprises a technical certificate, which is a test of the individual’s knowledge of their occupational area; key English and maths skills; and a work book that covers employment rights and responsibilities.

Director of Aftersales at Suzuki GB in Milton Keynes, Denis Houston said: “All our candidates completed their qualifications in just six months, which is an outstanding achievement.

“We are delighted with their success and proud to be able to offer this learning opportunity within our framework for helping our employees and those at our dealerships to build personal skills for better job performance, career opportunities and service to our customers and business clients.”

Suzuki GB’s NVQ programme is provided by specialist training partner NVQ Business Solutions LLP, which will continue to support the company’s training and staff development programme.

The Suzuki GB employees who have obtained NVQs are: Abdul Abdi, Joanne Brett, Michael Cable, Simon Deakin, Lee Griffin, Colin Hards, Martin Hull, Dominika Kijowska, Anna Krasinska, Anna Lewis, Natalie Round and Steve Smith.
