GM's Randy B. Floresca Receives SAE's Rumbaugh Outstanding Student Leader Award

WARRENDALE, PA: June 14, 2011: Randy B. Floresca, a test engineer at General Motors Company, received the SAE International Rumbaugh Outstanding Student Leader Award during the SAE 2011 World Congress.

Established in 2002, this award recognizes an outstanding student leader of one or more SAE International activities and encourages a vision within the student to become an SAE leader during his/her adult career. The award includes a lifetime professional membership in SAE International.

Mr. Floresca has been working in the Global Battery Systems Laboratory at General Motors as a battery cell and module test engineer for the past 10 months. He graduated from San Jose State University (SJSU) in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.  

While at SJSU, he was the SAE International student chapter president from 2008 to 2010 and published more than twenty newsletters reporting the chapter's news to sponsors, faculty, student members, and professionals. In 2009, he participated in the SAE International Leadership Development program, and, in 2010, he received the Donald Beall-Rockwell Student Award for Engineering Accomplishment from SJSU. He is also a member of Pi Tau Sigma, the International Mechanical Engineering Honor Society.
