Safety First: Global Automakers Hires a Policy Specialist

WASHINGTON--June 9, 2011: The Association of Global Automakers (Global Automakers) is expanding its technical staff, with the addition of Paul Scullion, to increase support for the Association’s vehicle safety-related legislative and regulatory activities.

“The addition of this new position demonstrates our members’ commitment to having Global Automakers play a greater role in vehicle safety policy making.”

Scullion was previously with the George Washington University National Crash Analysis Center as a senior research associate. He analyzed real-world crash data to identify opportunities for improvements in vehicle crashworthiness and occupant injury mitigation.

“Paul will be a valuable addition to Global Automakers as we work to enhance our members’ efforts to develop and deploy the next generation of safety technologies,” said Global Automakers Director of Safety Michael Cammisa. “The addition of this new position demonstrates our members’ commitment to having Global Automakers play a greater role in vehicle safety policy making.”

Scullion has published several research papers about child occupant safety, frontal crash protection, motorcycle safety, and narrow offset frontal crashes. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Queens University, Belfast, and is currently studying towards a Masters in Transportation Safety Engineering at the George Washington University.
