DENVER--May 25, 2011: The 100 percent electric, zero-emission Nissan LEAF will serve as the pace car for the 2011 BolderBOULDER running event on Memorial Day, May 30. As official and exclusive vehicle partner, Nissan is proud to offer cleaner air by bringing the "World Car of the Year" to the event, as Nissan shares its mission of encouraging healthy lifestyles.

Nissan will also be hosting Ryan Hall, Olympian and fastest American marathoner on the road today who recently had a personal best of 2 hours, 4 minutes, 48 seconds in April at the Boston Marathon. He will run the BolderBOULDER 10K for the first time in three years as well as take time to offer attendees training tips, sign autographs and take photos at the Nissan display.

"I'm really excited to be competing again in Boulder," said Ryan. "It's one of the greatest 10Ks in the country with a challenging and scenic route. The members of the Boulder community are always enthusiastic about the race, and I know they'll appreciate the zero emissions Nissan LEAF leading the way as pace car."

This event will mark the second in the "Innovation for Endurance" program, launched last week by Nissan and Rodale, Inc., that connects Nissan and its 100 percent electric Nissan LEAF with a series of high-profile running and cycling events nationwide.

"The 'Innovation for Endurance' program is one we're particularly excited for. Not only does it allow Nissan to directly play a role in supporting local fitness events, we get to extend the reach even further through integrated online content," said Jon Brancheau, Vice President of Nissan's Marketing Division.

The pillars of the program are the health and fitness "Innovators" who offer state-of-the-art tips on the "Innovation for Endurance" Facebook page, aimed at encouraging consumers to take their performance to a new level.

Since 1979, BolderBOULDER has been passionate about encouraging members of the community to play an active role in protecting both their health and their environment. The race is aimed at encouraging participants to jumpstart their summer by running in the 10K. The race features multiple waves to accommodate hundreds of different running paces and hosts 30 entertainers throughout the course.
