VICTORIA – May 20, 2011: Chrysler Australia is extending its ‘Don’t Hold Back’ challenge to motorsport with a new Jeep sponsorship of the globally acclaimed Dodge Viper GT3, driven by champion race car driver Greg Crick at Australian GT events.

The two-year deal is particularly significant for Chrysler Australia’s Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler brand portfolio as it marks their first circuit motorsport sponsorship since the 1970s and forms part of the Jeep marque’s 70th anniversary celebrations.

The striking orange and black design on Crick’s Viper GT3 was created to resemble the iconic Jeep, re-known for the seven slot grille, round headlights and trapezoidal wheel arches. Set to be unveiled for the first time today at the Winton Round 2 event, Crick’s re-vamped Dodge Viper will surely make a statement on the track this GT season.

The Jeep brand’s partnership with Crick stems from his passion for cars said Caroline McComb, Sponsorship and Public Relations Manager, Chrysler Australia.

“Greg embodies the spirit of ‘Don’t Hold Back’ – indeed he has no intention of holding back and aims to finish the Australian GT Championship in the number one spot,” said McComb.

“His enthusiasm for everything automotive and for Jeep made him the perfect partner. In fact Greg will be adding the Chrysler trio of brands to his dealer portfolio in Tasmania, having recently been won over by the award winning Jeep Grand Cherokee”.

Greg Crick agreed, adding that he was thrilled to be chosen for the company’s first circuit motorsport sponsorship in over three decades.

“Jeep vehicles are not only great to drive, especially the Grand Cherokee, but the brand encapsulates everything I stand for. Having a giant ‘Don’t Hold Back’ on the bonnet of my Dodge Viper GT3 is an amazing encouragement to race and win”.

2011 marks the celebration of 70 strong years of Jeep heritage (stemming back to the early 1940s when Jeep was the first 4WD to be driven on Australian terrain). To mark this celebration, Jeep has embarked on a wide spread ‘Don’t Hold Back’ challenge to revitalise every aspect of its business.
