WASHINGTON--May 16, 2011: Addressing a group of concerned lawmakers and their staffs, Dan Ross, CEO of Illume Software, developer of iZup, a complete mobile safety management software solution to reduce distracted driving, participated in a policy panel hosted by the Distracted Driving Safety Alliance (DDSA), Wednesday, May 11 in Capitol Hill's Cannon House Office Building. Ross was joined by other DDSA Leadership Council members representing Nuance Communications, TASER International, and Wired Safety. Ross also discussed the issue in a separate meeting with Administrator Peter Appel and his staff of the Department of Transportation Research and Innovative Technology Administration.

“This is the ideal forum to reach out to legislators and their staffs regarding the challenges of distracted driving and the role technology plays in solving the problem”

The panel followed CES on the Hill, an exhibition where members of Congress and Administration officials interacted with technologies changing the way we work and live. DDSA showcased iZup at the event.

"This is the ideal forum to reach out to legislators and their staffs regarding the challenges of distracted driving and the role technology plays in solving the problem," Ross says. "Lawmakers had the opportunity to see technology in action at CES on the Hill and then discuss it further at the panel."

About DDSA

The DDSA is a broad-based coalition of industry, government, labor, advocacy groups, and consumers whose sole focus is stopping distracted driving through education and promoting best practices in driver safety. In doing so, DDSA reaffirms that distracted driving is a behavioral issue, and that technology can be a valuable solution in changing people’s driving behaviors to eliminate distractions.
