MELBOURNE – May 16, 2011: Some very desirable sporting Classics could warm enthusiasts’ hearts at Monday’s Shannons Melbourne Winter Auction when they go under the hammer with no reserve prices.

Australian Muscle Car enthusiasts can’t go past the no-reserve Bronze Wine 1971 Falcon XY GT that has been in the hands of the same family for the past 38 years (Guiding range $65,000-$85,000).

Meanwhile Holden followers will find the Mint Julip Green 1976 LX Torana SL/R 5000 four-door sedan very appealing at its projected selling range of $18,000-$24,000.

Datsun 240Z enthusiasts have the rare opportunity to acquire a one owner, unmolested white 1973 Datsun 240Z five-speed manual coupe that is expected to bring $12,000-$16,000.

Porsche purists will be hoping to secure a former left hand drive 1971 Viper Green 911T Targa Coupe for a bargain price, with Shannons quoting a guiding range of $22,000-$28,000 for the no-reserve classic that comes with an impressive receipt file.

As an alternative, there’s a very desirable three-owner, Australian-delivered 1969 Porsche 911T 2.2 Coupe fitted with a factory sunroof (not working) and the sought-after Fuchs forged wheels that is expected to sell in the $45,000-$55,000 range.

Mini Cooper S followers have the opportunity to purchase a recently restored and rebuilt 1970 Mk II model finished in classic British Racing Green with White roof and stripes that Shannons expect to sell with no reserve in the $18,000-$22,000 range.

Other no reserve British sporting cars are a red 1967 MGB Mk I Roadster that Shannons say would form a sound base for a ‘restore as you drive’ classic at its anticipated selling price of $5,000-$8,000 and a three-owner Ford 302 V8-engined 1976 Triumph Stag ($7,000-$10,000).

American Muscle Car fanciers have the choice between an original, red left hand drive 1966 Ford Mustang ‘A Code’ Coupe ($14,000-$18,000) and a black, right hand drive 1979 Pontiac Trans Am Coupe ($18,000-$24,000).

And stepping back in time there’s a recently-recommissioned right hand drive 1933 Chrysler CO Sedan that was formerly used as a wedding car ($18,000-$24,000).
