VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – May 10, 2011: Mazda Australia today released further details of the rigorous evaluation and testing regime that the All-New Mazda BT-50 has undergone ahead of its Australian launch later this year.

The development process sees the All-New Mazda BT-50 put through its paces in a number of different tests that are designed to replicate the most demanding real-world driving conditions the new model may face.

The purpose of the high speed dyno cell is to place extreme loads on the All-New BT-50’s powertrain and this part of the development process replicates driving over half a million kilometers under some of the toughest conditions.

Upon completion of testing on the high speed dyno cell and the culmination of a number of other real-world engineering tests, the vehicle is taken to the powertrain development workshop for evaluation.

A team of up to thirty specialist powertrain engineers spend months scrutinising and assessing each and every component of the vehicle’s powertrain to ensure that it meets Mazda’s high durability standards.

Mazda Australia engineering and compliance manager, Wayne Watson describes the work of the specialist powertrain engineers in more detail. “Engine oil, transmission and differential temperatures are all monitored and evaluated. Suspension components, fan belts and alternators are all removed and analysed. Driveshafts are measured and entire engines removed to ensure that there is no unexpected wear.

“For the owner, this means class-leading capabilities for driving, towing and off-road,” said Watson.

Overall, this gruelling evaluation and testing regime ensures that the All-New Mazda BT-50 will be prepared to handle everything that’s thrown at it, and then some.
